2010 Technology Predictions
So as we close off another year, it’s time to recap on what has happened in 2009 and look forward to the technology trends that will take the business world by storm next year.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and Rackers for their support and hard work this year – we really do have the best team and this has not only enabled us to continue to grow, but achieve industry recognition, including being named “Customer Service Team of the Year” at the annual National Customer Service Awards, so thanks!
But enough about us, here are some of our top technology predictions for 2010:
Changing Landscape – We’ve seen the role of IT shift over the last year, becoming more strategic and helping drive value across the business through better vendor management and a focus on business specific applications.
This computing revolution will continue well into 2010 with hosting services – Managed, Cloud and Email & Apps – eliminating the need for up front capital investment and giving businesses flexibility, expertise, and peace of mind.
Cloud Cover - Organisations will increasingly look to public and private clouds next year to save money and while the cloud will transform the technology landscape, we also expect to see more customers mix and match technologies with the cloud, e.g. utilise the cloud for extra processing power, to stream video or to run secondary applications whilst keeping core applications on a dedicated environment.
Social media growth – Traditional methods of keeping in touch with customers, including phone and email, will evolve to incorporate social media, with Skype and twitter continuing to grow in popularity as organisations look for efficient, cost-effective and greener methods of communication.
So that’s all from us until next year – Happy New Year from everyone at Rackspace…we look forward to seeing you in 2010!
