Movember
For the month of November, many Rackers (mo brothers) grew extra facial hair above their lips in support of the month of Movember. A tradition within Rackspace for a couple of years now, this year was a record with close to 30 Mo Brothers taking part and raising over £4,600 for Prostate Cancer. Ending in a Mo off (catwalk of Mo Bros to choose the winning Mo, and finally shaving off ceremony of the Moustaches ) and raffle to raise even more money.
Let’s not forget though, the reason we did this. As well as the cool t-shirts, fun and prizes, it was all about raising money for an excellent cause. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 10 men in the UK, so that means that in our lifetimes we will all be affected by it somehow – whether we contract it ourselves, or a friend or loved one does. To give you an idea of just how prevalent it is, every 15 minutes a man is diagnosed with it in the UK. The Prostate Cancer Charity provides information and support to those affected by prostate cancer, and also fund research into fighting and eventually curing it.

If you’d like to you can still donate online here (https://www.movember.com/uk/donate/your-details/team_id/1966), (remember to tick the gift aid box if you are a UK tax payer to enable the charity to reclaim the income tax you’ve already paid on your donation).
Rackspace has a long-standing commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates, creating the Rack Gives Back (RGB) employee volunteer programme. Each year RGB selects a charity, currently Cancer Research UK, and stages fund raising events throughout the year, with the help of the Internal Events Committee the most recent events were the Three Peaks Challenge and Racky Races.
